OUR EXPERTISE is tree harvesting and woodchip production, specialising in both softwood and hardwood plantations.
WE SERVICE South Australia, Western Victoria and Western Australia.
Founded in 1932 by Lawrence Victor Dohnt, L.V. Doht & Co was one of the first Logging Contractors for the Woods & Forests Department at Bundaleer in South Australia.
Lawrence Victor moved the company to the South East of South Australia to take up a contract to supply logs from thinnings to the temporary Mill at Penola, and then in 1940, supplying the Nangwarry Sawmill. This formed the basis of the L. V. Dohnt Family tradition and legacy.
The L.V. Dohnt & Co head office is based in Nangwarry, which is situated 32 kilometres north of Mount Gambier in the South East of South Australia. The company has become a large chipping and logging contractor in Australia and has significantly invested in plant and equipment to harvest, extract, and chip an annual volume in excess of six hundred thousand tonnes per year.

Infield Chipping
Significantly the largest part of our operations, we are well known for being experts in this field and pride ourselves on our professional approach to every block we harvest.
Haulage & Float work
An area we have re-entered in the last few years, we now have a fleet of 4 trucks in the GT & 7 trucks operating in Albany hauling our own chip using specialised chip trailers.
Roadhouse
Currently trading as “BP Nangwarry”, we have a great team providing classic home cooked roadhouse meals in the evening, fresh made sandwiches/rolls as well as great coffee! Our facilities include public toilets and showers with plenty of space to park up your trucks for the night.
Vineyard
Though we no longer bottle our own, we still run a thriving vineyard in the Coonawarra region providing high quality grapes to our customers.
Albany Hydraulics
A sister Company running in Albany, Western Australia, where we have a small team providing the community with specialised hydraulics fittings & custom made hoses as well as various repairs as required.
Firewood First
Based in Mumbannar, this one-man operation provides firewood to the local community as well as larger orders being delivered as far as Melbourne & Adelaide.
